Overview
You can find Poland in Central Europe. It is a big country surrounded by Ukraine, Slovakia, Russia (Kaliningrad Oblast), Lithuania, Germany, the Czech Republic, and Belarus. It also has a long and wonderful Baltic Sea for its coastline.
Poland at Present
Poland is now a democratic country with a stable and growing economy. Since 1999, it has already been a member of NATO. Since 2004, it is also a member of the European Union. However, the stability of the country is currently put to the test because of the tragic plain crash that killed its president along with some of the country’s most important political, civic and business figures. Poland is also a member of the Schengen recently. This is a agreement for a border-less Europe. The borders that must be open are borders among Germany, Czech Republic, Lithuania, and Slovakia. It is also an agreement that they should later on, adopt the Euro currency. Poland becoming a member of Europe again as an independent nation and at peace used to be just the country’s dream. Now, it is becoming a reality as the nation is slowly achieving its goals.
Insurance in Poland
Personal insurance is not very popular in Poland. Mostly because people don’t trust insurance companies or can’t afford to buy personal insurance. Car insurance is compulsory in Poland so it’s a huge market, hovewer other type of insurances are not so popular. Certain types of insurance such as life insurance is the same as everywhere in the world, but, for example, there is no income protection insurance in Poland, because most of the time salaries are paid “under the table” and people can’t declare correct earnings to insurance companies.
